Review Updated Software List for IK Benchmarking

I have completed the revision of the softwarelist for ik. The updated list now includes 30 software packages, each with a justification for inclusion and a link to the repository or documentation.

Please review the list and let me know if you think any software should be added, removed, or further justified.

@FangZiyang you are making good progress, but you misunderstood what I meant by justifying your choices. I don't want a separate argument for each choice; I want the choices to come from an authoritative list, as mentioned in the methodology.

For instance, there is a curated list of robotics simulators and libraries. They have a sub list for inverse kinematics.

We want to find as many authoritative sources as possible and compare them. That is how we build your list.

You can also use ChatGPT to come up with a list and compare that list to the other lists you find.

We will then compare our list to a list from Dr. Giamou. We'll need to ask him to come up with a list soon, since the baby is due in October.

Thank you for your feedback and guidance. I apologize for the misunderstanding. I did read the methodology papers carefully, but I now realize that they emphasize first collecting candidate software from authoritative sources (Section 6 “How to Identify Candidate Software?”) and later filtering down the list (Section 7 “How to Initially Filter the Software List?”).

In my current work, I jumped ahead and directly filtered down to around 30 packages, which might have skipped the step of comparing to authoritative lists as you suggested. This was my mistake in interpretation.

I will immediately start gathering authoritative lists, compare them, and then revise my candidate list based on their overlap, as per the methodology. Thank you again for pointing me in the right direction.

Sounds good Ryan. My guess is that the final list will look much like the list you have built, but we need to be able to justify to others that our list is the right list.
