Current source distribution: MIT License (see ../LICENSE), effective for source that its copyright holders are authorized to license under MIT in the v0.8.0 line and later.
Previous releases: v0.1.0 through v0.7.1 were published with Apache License 2.0. Those historical copies remain available under the licenses accompanying their tags; changing the current repository's LICENSE does not revoke licenses already granted for past distributions. See v0.7.1 LICENSE.
Contribution rights: this change is intended for project-owned material. It does not automatically relicense code or artwork owned by someone who has not granted appropriate permission. Contributors retain their copyright; if any prior third-party contribution requires separate consent for MIT redistribution, obtain it or preserve its original applicable license and notices before including it in an MIT-labelled release. Maintainers should check provenance before accepting substantial external code.
Dependencies: npm dependencies (including the ignore package), developer tooling, Ollama, VS Code and separately installed models keep their own licenses. The root package.json license field covers LineLoom, not third-party packages or model weights. Inspect dependency licenses and attribution obligations before redistributing third-party content.
MIT is a permissive license; unlike Apache-2.0, its text does not contain an express patent license grant. This document is a project notice, not legal advice.
