Getting coordinates from a file

I dont posses even basic knowledge of python - but do know other languages. So I have created a file gps.gps inside root folder which gets updates with new coordinates every 5min. Is it possible to make pokemongo-slackbot read new coordinates from that file?

I did this myself. See code below (I commented where my changes start). It might be ugly but it works for me. Best thing would be if you would have a file with just lat,long in it. My file has the coordinates in the following format:
2016-08-01 18:19:31_53.19619148631056_5.9811994763033125_

def set_location(location_name):
    geolocator = GoogleV3()
    prog = re.compile('^(\-?\d+(\.\d+)?),\s*(\-?\d+(\.\d+)?)$')
    global origin_lat
    global origin_lon
    if prog.match(location_name):
#my code starts here
        with open('/link/to/file/gps.txt', 'r') as myfile: 
            data=myfile.read().replace('\n', '')
        coords = data.split("_")[-3:] #delimiter is underscore _, and i have datestamp_lat_long
        lat = coords[0]
        long = coords[1]
        location_name = coords[0] + ',' + coords[1]

this works for me. Again, it is ugly code.
