Thanks for the suggestion! markupever looks promising, and I’ll definitely keep an eye on its progress. For now, though, its stars and contributor activity are still a bit low for inclusion.

Sorry, what's the threshold? The project isn't too popular yet, but I assumed the point of this list was to identify quality projects (which I assure you, markupever is).

What's the minimum number of stars you're willing to accept so I don't waste more time? What does "contributor activity" even mean?

The https://github.com/SimonSapin/html5ever-python project (in this list) isn't even maintained. It's a public archive. That's about as low as you can get on the "contributor activity" metric.

markupever is a maintained alternative to html5ever, with basically as many stars. Not sure why that's being discounted currently.
