iris_v4l2_test missing from multimedia image

/usr/bin/iris_v4l2_test is required by Video_V4L2_Runner test which is a part of pre-merge suite:

@mwasilew The video team attempted to create a recipe for the /usr/bin/iris_v4l2_test testapp to include it in the ramdisk, but it was rejected due to third-party library linking needed for binary compilation. As a result, they suggested sideloading to validate the video encode/decode use cases. @vgarodia, do we have any open source testapps available for validation?

Could you please point out the PR or the issue discussing the recipe? Which library was required?
Generally, it's not a problem to get testing apps in, but from my POV, they must be completely open source. I really don't fancy closed source tests.

https://github.com/quic/v4l-video-test-app is the repository for this test app. There is an attempt to compile it in the past #998 .

FWIW, with quic/v4l-video-test-app#15 it should be possible to build the app inside Yocto build environment.

What’s the latest on adding iris_v4l2_test to the distros build? It’s blocking our pre‑merge video test gating.
