I'm so excited to finally share Gumdrop Studio with you all! This has been a labor of love, and I can't wait to see what adorable pixel art you create with it.

✨ What is Gumdrop Studio?

Gumdrop Studio is a browser-based pixel art app with a unique dual-layer canvas system that I haven't seen anywhere else. Here's the magic: you can draw blocky, crisp pixel art on one layer, then add smooth, fine details like whiskers, smiles, or highlights on a separate vector overlay layer. No more choosing between pixel-perfect edges and smooth accent lines—you get both!

🎨 What can you do with it?

• 8+ drawing tools: Pixel Stamp, Pencil, Eraser, Line, Rectangle, Circle, Curve, and the special Accent Pen for those fine details
• Advanced color system with HSV color wheel and full alpha channel support
• Flexible canvas sizes from 4×4 to 256×256 pixels
• Dark/Light themes (I made the light theme a soft cream to be easier on the eyes!)
• Multiple export formats: PNG, JPG, SVG, JSON, and even HTML snippets
• Project management with save/load functionality (all stored locally in your browser)
• Unlimited undo/redo for when inspiration strikes

🚀 Built with modern tech

React 19.2.0, Vite 7.1.12, and Tailwind CSS 4.1.16—all the latest stable versions. It's fast, responsive, and works great in modern browsers.

💭 Why I built this

I wanted a quick, easy way to create cute pixel art without installing anything. Plus, I kept wanting to add tiny details to my sprites that looked too chunky with pure pixels—hence the overlay layer! Whether you're making game sprites, icons, or just want to draw pixelated kittens (my favorite!), I hope this tool makes it fun and easy.
