Replication and additional analysis based of a selection econometric papers studying cultural persistence.
The papers studied include:
- The long term effects of Africa’s slave trades (Nunn, 2008)
- The slave trade and the origins of mistrust in Africa (Nunn & Wantchekon, 2011)
- On the Origins of Gender Roles: Women and the Plough (Alesina et al., 2013)
- The Church, intensive kinship, and global psychological variation (Schulz et al., 2019)

The folder scripts contains scripts that when executed will print on the console the results of an analysis.
Each script has hard-coded parameters that can be modified to analyse different exposures, outcomes and controls.
The file scripts/utils.R contains some utility functions.
The file scripts/meta.R contains the code to conduct a meta analysys of the papers.
The folder datasets contains the datasets used for the analysis.
