connection lost

When I use the Overleaf Workshop plugin in VSCode, I frequently encounter "connection lost" pop-ups. This happens not only when I use my self-hosted server but also when I use www.overleaf.com or www.cn.overleaf.com. The strange part is that my edits still sync successfully to the server during these episodes. In other words, the functionality works, but I keep getting the "connection lost" message. I'm not well-versed in networking, what should I do?

Even after turning off the VPN and clearing the browser cache, the same issue persists.

The problems for connecting your own server, and the official one, may be different.

For the issue in the above screenshot, please also provide the version of the community server. We may have incompatible issue with the latest version.

\Thank you for your reply. My Overleaf Community Edition version is ShareLaTeX 5.5.4. What puzzles me is why the official version (www.overleaf.com) also reports the "connection lost" error, while the plugin functions perfectly with normal compilation and synchronization.

Please also provide the developer log as what you showed for the community server. I think the auto-reconnect mechanism works for you, but the alert will not be popped in that case.

I have this issue too, http://www.overleaf.com/ is pretty much unusable to me currently. We do have the upgraded version through our university.

No matter my device or internet connection I am on, I keep getting the "Lost connection" pop-ups every few seconds. It started about 2-3 months ago, and since this week it also loses connection completely sometimes and causes me to reload the editor with potentially lost changes.

I have no idea how to investigate this further, if anyone could direct me on how to get some logs or similar stuff I'd be happy to provide them

I've been comparing the wireshark feed between the browser and the VSCode extension. And the VSCode extension is the only one to send RST Flags over TCP, which would explain connection losses.

Also it seems that RST Flags are always sent when packages arrive Out-Of-Order. Here is a snapshot.

Been trying to fetch data from a self hosted instance and landed here. Hope this somehow helps. I am unsure of which sharelatex version I am using but that may be the issue. Would be great if someone could check if they find a similar pattern.
