You shouldn’t lose your files. Even if you’ve hit the usage limit, the Codespace still exists, it just stopped. You can recover your work without adding any kind of card. Try doing these steps:

Next time take care to always push early. If the Codespace UI is completely blocked then your only last option is to reach out GitHub Support, they can temporarily unlock access so you can export. I hope this helps :) |

Usage Limit Hit on Codespaces

I used up my usage limit just as I was about to finish up a project I have been working on for the last 6 weeks. Unfortunately I didnt push it to Github as I didnt even realize I was being charged (I'm a first time user of Codespaces). I dont see anyway to download my files from Codespaces and it doesnt allow me to create a separate branch. None of my India-based credit or debit cards are working. I wish it would have at least warned me! I just needed another 5-10 minutes to push it to Git and finalize my product. Any help on how to recover my files, which I have spent countless hours on, would be greatly appreciated!
