RFC: Python SDK for BubuStack

Overview

Proposal to build a Python SDK matching the Go SDK's ABI contract for Engrams and Impulses.

Motivation

Python is the dominant language in AI/ML. A Python SDK would significantly lower the barrier for data scientists and ML engineers to build BubuStack components.

Design constraints

• Same ABI contract as Go SDK (StartBatch, StartStreaming, RunImpulse equivalents)
• CloudEvents adoption (Standardize impulse and hook events as CloudEvents #43) makes the event contract language-agnostic, reducing SDK-specific code
• Must support: batch execution, streaming, impulse triggers, testkit, conformance suites
• Storage offloading, structured errors, and observability (OpenTelemetry) parity

Questions for discussion

1. Should this be a pure Python implementation or a wrapper around the Go SDK (via cgo/gRPC)?
2. Which Python frameworks should be supported (asyncio, sync, both)?
3. Minimum Python version? (3.11+?)
4. Package distribution — PyPI?
5. Who is interested in contributing?

Dependencies

• CloudEvents adoption (Standardize impulse and hook events as CloudEvents #43)
• Stable Go SDK ABI (currently pre-1.0)
