The OpenWave community is made up of people from different backgrounds, skill levels, cultures, and life experiences. Our shared diversity strengthens our collaboration and creativity.
This Code of Conduct exists to ensure that everyone feels safe, respected, and empowered to contribute—whether you’re writing code, filing issues, giving feedback, or helping in discussions.
Members of the OpenWave community are expected to:
- Be respectful. Acknowledge differing perspectives and treat all members with courtesy.
- Be inclusive. Foster a space where everyone feels welcome to contribute and participate.
- Be constructive. Offer helpful feedback, and accept criticism with grace.
- Be collaborative. Work together to solve problems and share credit for successes.
- Be considerate. Remember that your words and actions affect others.
- Show empathy. Consider how your behavior and communication might be perceived.
We welcome participation from everyone, regardless of:
- Age, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation
- Disability, physical appearance, body size
- Ethnicity, nationality, race, religion (or lack thereof)
- Education, socioeconomic background, or professional experience
We do not tolerate harassment, discrimination, or exclusion of any kind.
Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Harassment, intimidation, or threats
- Disrespectful, demeaning, or discriminatory comments
- Sharing others’ private information without consent
- Sexualized language, imagery, or unwelcome advances
- Sustained disruption of discussions, events, or meetings
- Excessive profanity or deliberately offensive humor
- Personal attacks or targeted insults
- Encouraging self-harm or violence
If asked to stop inappropriate behavior, members must comply immediately.
This Code of Conduct applies to:
- All OpenWave-managed platforms (GitHub repositories, forums, chat rooms, mailing lists, etc.)
- Official community events (online or in person)
- Any interactions where you represent OpenWave publicly
If a community member’s behavior is found to violate this Code of Conduct, moderators or maintainers may take action, including but not limited to:
- Private warnings
- Public warnings
- Temporary suspension from community spaces
- Permanent removal from the community
If you witness or experience a violation:
- Contact the OpenWave moderation team.
- Provide as much detail as possible (links, context, timestamps).
- Reports will be acknowledged within 48 hours, kept confidential, and handled in good faith.
We may update this Code of Conduct over time. Major changes will be discussed openly with the community before adoption.
