Instructions on how to add a user to a blogfarm site

At the moment I'm not clear how best to add a user (as admin/editor etc) to a site in our blogfarm.

Used to be:

• Tell them to go to http://okfn.org/register and register (if they hadn't already)
• Tell the current site admin their username
• Site admin adds them in relevant users section of their sites wordpress admin panel
• They login at {site}/wp-admin

Aside: is blog farm the best name (perhaps sitefarm might be better!)
