Adding a prefix to CoverageJSON

In a project I am part of (https://rodeo-project.eu/), we want to extend CoverageJSON by using the prefix eumetnet. The process for doing this, documented at https://covjson.org/prefixes/, refers to a file of prefixes that has not been updated for 9 years (https://github.com/covjson/covjson.github.io/blob/master/_data/prefixes.yaml)

Issue #16 discuss this as well, but it is unclear to me if it prescribes a new way of doing things, and if so, what the new procedure actually is?

@havardf Good question! In theory the OGC register mentioned in Issue #16 is operational, but it is not clear how to use it or what the due process is. Perhaps @ghobona can tell us please?
@jonblower @letmaik Wojld either of you want overview of the submissions, or are you happy for OGC to do this?

@chris-little Very sorry for the slow reply to this. I'm very happy for OGC to have overview of the submissions to the prefixes registry.

@havardf In the meantime you're welcome to update the YAML file via a pull request. (You're right that this file is very old - people don't register new prefixes very often!)

Hm, in the interim here, we have changed the prefix we use from eumetnet to metocean. I think its better this way, but now its not clear where it should resolve to. So, I have to get back to you on this, as I need to consult with the RODEO project on how best to proceed in the long term for how this should be maintained.

If you have something to map your eumetnet/metocean concepts to, maybe this approach adding additional observational metadata via the SOSA/SSN Ontology is helpful

Hi. Good point. Regarding permanent domain for the URI to use, it will probably be a subdomain of meteogate.eu. However, how to deal will vocabularies / extensions to vocabularies have not really been resolved in the RODEO project. I will bring it up again.

@havardf How about creating a 'holding page' somewhere in meteogate.eu, then we can create a PR on the coverage community prefix registry ?
