How would the remote files be accessed and worked with? In regards to caching, or stored in isolated server's or endpoint machine's RAM, or some kind of real time streaming (only what you need) basis?

I just heard about opencloud and it sounds like the sync performance is a game changer over nextcloud. I was about to migrate before learning it doesn't support vfs yet which is a strict requirement of mine.

I'll look forward to switching over when vfs is supported in both Windows and Linux.

Any updates on this topic yet? I see that there is recent development of the openvfs plugin, but the api doesnt seem to match the latest commit in the openvfs repo

As a workaround until vfs is supported you can connect through WebDAV
