Here's an idea that I can't make look good at menu bar icon sizes. Or at normal size.

What's the metaphor you're going for?

It is not recognizably close.

Whipped up this guy to use in the status bar until something better comes along:

That makes me think more of a knob. The image I get in my mind for the type
of switching I'm doing is more like one of those two-way spring rockers:

I don't see the icon much though so I'd be happy with anything recognizable.
