incompatiable with `nixosModules.readOnlyPkgs` module

facter does not work in the condition where you are using the readOnlyPkgs nixosModule (part of nixpkgs). Some check needs to be made to not override hostPlatform when using that module.

I noticed this issue a long time ago, it was a reason I avoided Facter and now that it was merged into nixpkgs I had to report it.

This is only part of nixos tests, right? We don't set hostPlatform if we detect nixos tests at the moment. Otherwise I don't really see much use for this. One can just set nixpkgs.pkgs and get the the same effect (we have eval errors if you set nixpkgs.pkgs and nixpkgs.overlays at the same time)

Well. It should be easy to not have nixos-facter not set hostPlatform with an additional nixos option. We do this for many other modules already.

@Mic92 Also is there a way to tell facter to only automate the process of setting the essential boot.initrd.availableKernelModules =[].

i noticed if u have a server it will do stuff like hardware.graphics.enable = true which does not hurt but I don't think is necessary under all circumstances.

No. You have to disable stuff manually. There is an option for graphics. You can dump all detected options in a nix repl.

I do something like this with flake-parts

So setting the system for my various computers is automated
