Lab 3 Enhancements

Key Content:

• Comparison of one and two-state models
• Practice regression and uncertainty analysis
• Two-state model will be used throughout the semester

Proposed Lab Changes:

• Pre-lab assignment: regress two-state model to step test data (Lab 1)
• Perform sine wave experiment
• Repeat one and two-state model estimates with sine wave
• Compare uncertainty in estimates parameters across two data sets (step, sine wave) and two models (one and two states)
• Calculate mean squared error and absolute squared error
• Modify discussion questions to streamline grading

Proposed Website Changes:

• Tutorial on Fisher information matrix and eigendecomposition, practical identifiability
• Show in lecture four comparisons (see above) using data generated from the TCLab digital twin
• Tutorial on maximum likelihood estimation (?)
• Tutorial on AIC and model selection
