Can't load openstreetmap images

I get the following error when I try to run the first example:

Weird, i can load http openstreetmap urls with no problem. both with a browser, and calling via api.

Also, i think the user agent presence is key here. if there is no user-agent header, the http urls are unavailable. I think. The patch is ok but the real issue is not in url, that's my take.

easy to check with postman or sth. Maybe has to do with the recent cloudfront issues. Maybe http urls were serviced from down servers dunno,

Yea, i confirmed, no user agent = http tile not available, user agent - http tile available

Actually they require https urls now ;) but user-agent is still a key

Use the correct URL: https://tile.openstreetmap.org/{z}/{x}/{y}.png.
Provide visible licence attribution, following the Attribution Guidelines.
Send a valid HTTP User-Agent that clearly identifies your application (or a platform X-Requested-With app ID where set automatically).
From web pages, ensure a valid HTTP Referer header is sent.
Cache tiles locally according to HTTP caching headers (or at least 7 days if your cache cannot read them).
Avoid encouraging or enabling copyright infringement.

Hi, I'm a comp sci student and I was working on a project recently and I had to use this dependency but i encountered the same problem.
And yes i tried in postman then went on to check OSM page about their policies but after doing all that nothing changed
Then i had the idea to debug the source code which lead me back to the github finding out there's an issue recently opened about this.

I read the code and found out that the Runnable that does the fetch of tiles from OSM uses URLConnection object to do so. For whatever reason I said to myself that this was the issue and tried to debug and see if the header 'User-Agent' is actually in the connection object. I don't remember if it was or not but I did decided to try using HttpClient object to fetch and it actually worked it out. So let me know if it's worth sending a PR to check it out. I would be much pleased to contribute to my first open source project, I'm just not able to explain what could be the the difference in using HttpClient even after reading the doc of both classes

That's true! I'd just say I'm glad to support the move toward using HttpClient

Hi, I would submit one over the course of the weekend
I was only checking if need be to completely wipe out URLConnection or just propose the update for the particular matter of OSM fetching for now
I will do that and in case it seems ok to you I’ll explore the complete refactor of URLConnection
