[Feature] Vehicle speed control

Feature description

Firstly, thank you for creating such a wonderful mod.

It would be great if you could add a feature to lock and control speed via mouse wheel.

For clarity, we could implement a toggle key that locks the current speed, allowing us to use the mouse wheel to fine-tune our speed adjustments.

Use case

I am currently using a vehicle control addon to lock speed and use W and S keys to increase/decrease speed.

Using the mouse instead of keyboard for speed control would be more intuitive, as the mouse wheel allows for faster and more precise adjustments (e.g., scrolling through speeds) compared to the slower W/S key input.use wheel when increase/decrease.

Hi @Cyber-Syntax! Thanks, I'm really glad you're enjoying the mod.

The mouse wheel idea is interesting, but I don't want to just copy what other mods like Vehicle Control Addon already do. If I’m going to add this, it has to be simpler and more intuitive, so it works well for both "speed demons" and players who prefer a realistic pace.

I’ll definitely look into it in the future. Right now, I'm fully focused on another project, but I’ll keep your suggestion in mind for later updates. Thanks for the input!

Thanks for your honest feedback! I completely understand your concerns about copying existing mod features. Your focus on simplicity and intuitiveness is exactly what I was aiming for in my initial idea.

As it turns out, I've already experimented with implementing the scroll wheel speed control feature myself, adding speed lock and scrolling wheel-driven speed changes - although, due to my lack of experience with Lua and FS25 modding, I was only able to get the game working with cars, but not tractors(it works for decrease and lock but not increase 😕 ).

I'm glad you're keeping an eye on it for future updates - if you need any help or guidance, feel free to reach out! However, considering your priorities on other projects, I completely understand that it's not a top priority right now. No rush at all! I appreciate the consideration of my suggestion and will keep it in mind for future updates.

The Mouse Steering Speed Control feature has been implemented and is now ready for testing

I've attached a development build below. This version includes:

• Speed adjustment via mouse scroll (while mouse steering is active).
• Integration with the cruise control HUD.
• A new toggle in the settings menu to enable/disable the feature.
• Fixes for locomotives (explicitly excluded) and camera zoom conflicts.

Test version (dev): FS25_mouseSteering_dev.zip
