How to stop policy recording bot while in call/meeting

Is there a way to stop recording during a meeting? There are cases when external participants don't want to be recorded

I'm guessing you are talking about a compliance recording policy that is enforced on some users. These users have meetings with certain participants, whose preference of not being recorded is above compliance requirements that your agents fall under?

A recording application can be present without recording. This still satisfies the ComplianceRecordingPolicy assigned to your agents/users on a technical level, but the recording banner can indicate that the recording has stopped and also audio notifications can play to notify pstn users that the recording has stopped. Compliance policy is basically just there to ensure your recording application can decide on it's own policy logic when to record and when to just chill in the call passively. There are also ways to use the Teams in-built policies and Auto Attendants to build out some scenarios, but your question is too vague to say if those options would work for you.

If you go with your custom recorder policy enforcement, the question becomes how to signal the external user preference not to be recorded to the recording application. Maybe you could elaborate further on your exact case and that might inspire yourself or somebody here how to do this conveniently. My ideas currently range from a side panel app with UI over DTMF tones all the way up to voice commands.

Yes, certain external participants don't want to be recorded. So a call/meeting starts, bot joins and starts recording, then an external participant says they would not like to be recorded. Currently we don't have a way to stop recording them while continuing to record others.

This is what I'd like:
External Participant (doesn't consent) --> Don't record them
Internal participant --> Always record

External Participant A (consents) --> Record them
External Participant B (doesn't consent) --> Don't record them
Internal participants --> Always record

Is there a way to do this currently? Would there be any issues trying to do this?
Surely something of the sorts has been done before right.

@chad-datatex Can definitely be done. Requires you to subscribe to unmixed audio as you want to record at all times. Just not what external caller is speaking into the call.

The signaling is still very open for interpretation. Are call queues or auto attendants involved? Should it happen before talking to internal participant, or during?

I've been building compliance recording bots for quite a while (5 years?) and haven't come across that scenario in particular.
