📢 Introducing the new Privacy page in Partner Center

We’re introducing a new Privacy page in the submission flow for Microsoft Edge extensions in Partner Center. This update is designed to improve transparency, policy compliance, and review efficiency.

Note: Privacy information is now entered through a dedicated Privacy page during submission, instead of using the Privacy policy fields previously available on the Properties page.
This change is rolling out in phases and is expected to be available to all developers by the end of May 2026.

🚀 What’s new?

Developers are now required to provide detailed privacy-related information during submission, including:

🔹 Single Purpose

• Clearly describe the core functionality of your extension
• Ensure the purpose is specific and well-defined (avoid vague descriptions)

🔹 Permission Justification

• Provide a justification for each permission declared in your manifest
• Follow the principle of least privilege—only request what is necessary

🔹 Remote Code Declaration

• Indicate whether your extension uses remote code
• Note: Remote code is not supported in Manifest V3 (only supported in Manifest V2)

🔹 Data Usage Disclosures

• Declare what types of user data are collected (if any)
• Certify compliance with data handling and limited-use policies
• This information will be surfaced to users for transparency

🔹 Privacy Policy

• Provide a valid and accessible privacy policy URL if your extension collects or handles user data
• Ensure the policy clearly explains how data is collected, used, and shared

All information provided in the Privacy page must be:

• ✅ Complete
• ✅ Accurate
• ✅ Consistent with your extension’s behavior and metadata

Any incomplete or misleading information may result in:

• Additional review cycles
• Delayed certification
• Rejection of the submission
