[BUG] Checkpoints don't start getting created on save until the Checkpoints panel has been expanded

While working in a file and wanting to restore a previous checkpoint I noticed that none had been created. It turns out they don't start getting created on save for any files (or the plugin doesn't load at all?) until I've expanded the "Checkpoints" panel in the sidebar at least once, i.e. I have to do this every single time after restarting VSCode for every single window where the panel wasn't already expanded before VSCode was last exited. Is this a bug in the extension or in my setup?

Just realized after working for a couple of hours (and forgetting to commit until now) that Checkpoints is not actually doing anything. Appears to be the same issue: auto-create on save is enabled, but nothing gets created unless the Checkpoints panel in the Explorer is expanded. Just tested it and I now have a checkpoint. Just twiddled a file again after collapsing the panel (after it created one while open) and it appears to be working.

I hadn't actually needed to reference a checkpoint in months so I don't know how long this has been happening. The last time I needed to see the checkpoints, it was working as expected.

If I can supply anything on my end that would help in debugging this, I'm happy to share it. Will have to remember to manually kick start it for the time being.

I think this extension is abandoned, and rightfully so since this functionality is now built into VSCode and works better than this extension ever has.
