GSoC 2026 – Anopheles farauti Support for malariagen_data

I'm Arman Tiwari, a 3rd-year B.Tech CSE (Data Science) student from India. I've submitted a GSoC 2026 proposal to extend malariagen_data with native support for Anopheles farauti, and I'm already working on a PR to the repo.

Quick summary of the proposal scope:

• Cloud-native data access via GCS + Zarr, modelled directly on the Ag3 pipeline
• Core population genomics analyses: allele frequency, FST, and PCA
• Visualizations consistent with existing API conventions and style

Before writing a single line of the proposal, I went through the Ag3 implementation in detail. The goal was to extend the architecture, not diverge from it — so the design should feel familiar rather than foreign.

Three things I'd appreciate from you:

1. A quick read of the proposal — does the scope feel realistic for a GSoC timeline?
2. Any flag if the technical approach is misaligned with where the project is heading
3. A look at the PR once it's up — happy to incorporate feedback early
