Sort and nestle the notes according with their tags

It would be grate if there was a file tree with the Sorting and nestled the notes according with their tags like the notable app does:

TagRoot
 | --TagRoot/tag-1
      | --TagRoot/tag-1/tag-1
 | --TagRoot/tag-2
 | --TagRoot/tag-3
 ...
 ...
 ...

It would be awsome and easier to navegate in the md files already created in notable.
Furthermore, the extension is great.

About your request, I think this would be possible thanks to VSCode Tree View API.

For the moment I have not enough time to implement it. But I will accept any pull request who implement this feature 😉

Unfortunately there is a bug inside and it also looks unmaintained.
I've filed an pull request in the repo, and also described a hack how to fix it inside the extension.

There is an other extension regarding tags, but I didn't like it

I'm currently working on such a feature, but it's not available for public yet, and it's currently a standalone extension.

I checked the code of both above mentioned extensions, and I've decide to use vscode-nested-tags () as base for this feature.
I earlier mentioned that I didn't like it. This was because the tag tree is located in the Explorer, and that there is no view for the files below a tag, as it is in Notable shows it. And Explorer is already, depending on other installed extensions, cluttered with additional entries.

But it has a better code quality, better architecture and therefore is much easier to use.

What's done so far:

• removed the @nested-tags feature, not needed for notable.
• move to own activitybar instead of having it in the explorer
• add support for: notebooks, untagged, pinned and deleted files
• advanced sorting, notebooks to the top, trash and untagged to the buttom, just as in Notable
• add icons to the tree, taken from materialdesignicons.com
  • colorize the icons (ATM: just for me, default color will be that whitish from the tag icon, and a dark gray for light themes)
• show title from frontmatter instead of filename, when available
• show how many files (in total) are below a tag

Updates (12.03.22):

• add support for favorited files, to be sorted to top. Just have overlooked this feature.
• different icon for 'files' with / without title tag

Updates (22.03.22):

• add configuration to show title from front matter, when available, instead of filename
  • and a configuration to show different icons for title and filename
• add configuration to open tree fully expanded
• add action to collapse the tree, exposed via api

What's planed in any order and without any priority:

• add customization's for
  • icon colors
  • how to name: Trash, Untagged and Favorites
• show all files below a tag in an additional treeview as seen in markdown-tags and Notable. The empty view is already there.
• add some context menu actions, such as
  • add note, the note will have the tags from where you right click
  • delete note: move to trash or permanent
  • more tbd
• add action to expand the whole tree, needs some (re)work (added 22.03.22)
• integrate in vscode-notable
• maybe changed file count below a tag to show how many are below the tag itself and how many in total.

Maybe after integration in vscode-notable

• add 18n support (in the far future, and depending on your opinion)
