The ipinfo asname data is 2 years old and statically bundled with the uuid-annotator.
CAIDA maintains an AS2Org database, updated quarterly. https://publicdata.caida.org/datasets/as-organizations/
The downloader could be updated to fetch updates to this file, the uuid-annotator could be updated to fetch the latest file (as it does with maxmind & routeviews) and use this source instead of the static ipinfo data.
Open questions:
- how different are these datasets? (i.e. is this a drop-in replacement?)
- depending, can we get updates from ipinfo?
