Have you looked into making this awesome port also CardboardVR compatible?
For optimal gameplay it would probably need some changes of the cockpit design, similar to the GearVR version of the game End Space, but for a start simple shooting where you look as in the Cardboard version of End Space would probably work.
If you need help making a 3D version of the cockpit for this, I would be happy to help (but I have not worked on Freespace2 mods before, so not sure how it works).
