python-splunk-metrics

Python code that can be run standalone, as a lambda, or Splunk App to collect and forward metrics. Currently CLI is being developed.

Developement Setup

Splunk Docker Setup

Local development was done leveraging the Splunk Docker Image.

  1. docker run -d -p 8089:8089 -p 8000:8000 -e "SPLUNK_START_ARGS=--accept-license" -e "SPLUNK_PASSWORD=password" --name splunk splunk/splunk:latest

Python Setup

  1. python3 -m venv env
  2. source env/bin/activate
  3. pip3 install splunk-sdk # Install Splunk Python SDK
  4. pip3 install pytest # Install pytest for tests
  5. pip3 install wavefront-sdk-python # Install Wavefront Python SDK. Does not install/compile
