Bug description

After two or three days of uptime, Cinnamon/Muffin starting experiencing performance issues on multiple computers and architectures:

On a Dell Latitude 7350 with the Intel Corporation Meteor Lake-P, typing starts having micro-stutters that are only a fraction of a second...but still noticeable. Once that starts, within a few hours the entire screen will go black, with the exception of the panel. The black screen lasts a couple of seconds, but after a few times, the screen will eventually go black, including the panel. Logging out and back in fixes it for another couple of days.

On my Tuxedo Pulse Gen1, with a Ryzen 4800H, the issue manifests first with the micro-stuttering typing issue, and then progresses to micro-stutters in video playback. The audio is unaffected, just the video. Again, logging out and back in fixes it for another couple of days.

This only seemed to start with 22.3 and/or Cinnamon 6.6.6. Did not have the issue before on either machine.

Steps to reproduce

Run the system for two or three days.

Expected behavior

No micro-stutters, and no black screen.

Additional information

This is running the latest 6.17.x HWE kernel and Mesa stack on both machines. No PPAs, no weird drivers or third-party installs.
