@DolphinGui how are the packages versioned? And do we care about making sure that each package's version is respected and selectable?

The package version is meant to be similar to how picolibc is versioned currently. I should probably think about versioning the patches, although I'm not too sure how that's going to work.

Does every one of the folders have its own version or is it one big version for everything. It's MUCH easier if it's one big version for everything. This becomes difficult if we have a unique version for each tool (folder at the root of the repo). We can still make this work with a single repo, but using version releases would be a bit different. There is a reference repo for this sort of thing, but the idea is that the versions showns on the repo are just versions of the repo, not the tools. Each release version may have its set of differing versions of each of the tools. The toolchains currently follow this scheme.

But would be nice if they were all bundled.

After our conversation the approach was to version as: <pico-sdk-version>-<our-version>. We would need to take control over how the version is parsed.

But, after some time thinking about this, I was considering that we just go with pico-sdk-version and that. Looking back, this is pretty much what the revision system of conan is for. We will use the repo's "Releases" page to hold revisions of this repo, meaning it will follow the semver scheme starting with 0.0.0. If we wanted to make it obvious to our users which versions go with which revision hash, we could have our github CI, push an update to the verbage on the release page with the revision hash for the package.

Does my second idea seem acceptable to you @DolphinGui ?
