"select *" request in the global search functionality

If we show only one field in the results which is defined via the $title property or the title() function, why should we ask for all the fields with "*" from a resource? 

I think there should be only this one field. Some tables might consists of quite huge fields (like for wysiwyg data) and such requests are getting too slow.

What do you think?
