Have you considered / are you object to switching the project to typescript?

The vanilla JS, no-build-step frontend is a deliberate choice, not a "haven't gotten to it yet". The whole pitch of this project is "mount a folder, run a container, browse", and every bit of tooling we add chips away at that. TypeScript means a Node toolchain, a build step, a dist/ output, a lockfile, and another Dockerfile stage. For a viewer this small it's a lot of ceremony.

It also keeps the contributor bar nice and low. Right now anyone who can read JavaScript can crack open app.js and send a patch.

Funnily enough, #39 hit the same nerve from a different angle (jQuery + DataTables + DuckDB for search). Same story: real gap, but the fix pulls the project away from the lightweight reader it's trying to be.
