Describe the issue

I get the following error on M3 MacOS when trying to open CrossOver:

"CrossOver" is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash.

Just to confirm, the file was downloaded and dragged into the Applications folder before attempting to open.

Can you confirm if this is still reproducible on v3.4.1 or the v4.0.0-beta.1? The arm64 build process has been updated since this was reported. If you're still seeing it on the latest release, please let us know and we'll dig in.

This is a macOS Gatekeeper code signing issue, not app damage. Fix:

Open Terminal and run:

xattr -cr /Applications/CrossOver.app

Then right-click the app → Open, and confirm. This removes the quarantine flag. You only need to do this once.

Why this happens: macOS quarantines apps downloaded from the internet that aren't notarized through Apple's service. CrossOver isn't enrolled in the Apple Developer Program, so the notarization step is skipped. We're tracking a proper fix (app notarization) as a future improvement.
