Installing VIP on ubuntu 16.04 LTS

When running the db_installer.sh command I get the following message come up:

Is this very problematic? Do I need to change permissions? How can I resolve this issue?

Did you run the dependency_installer.sh script? That should be run before you run this db_installer.sh. From the arror message I can see that you may run db_installer.sh with normal user. The developer intends to run it as root/sudo user. It is not a good practice, but skip this sudo/root problem for now.
Another obvious problem is that you do not have pigz installed in your system, running dependency_installer.sh would fix this.
