Standalone version of ebusctl

My setup

ebusd running on homeassistant -> fine

But I am used to ebusctl out of ebusd which can be used to play around and understand different signals.

Request

It would be great if there is a possibility to simply install or even download ebusctl as a standalone application for that use case. Nothing else needed, no real deamon.

Most convenient for ubuntu, (WSL).

Yes, that would help diagnosis and learning a lot.
Had some struggle to understand how to control my heating from HA the last few days.
Thought about deploying an instance of ebusd to have ebusctl available, but I was afraid it might be too much work.

first: ebusctl is very outdated and unmaintained since it can be easily replaced by using netcat, e.g. echo "hex 08b509030d0000"|nc -q 1 localhost 8888 for issuing a hex command just like https://github.com/john30/ebusd/blob/master/contrib/scripts/readall.sh or https://github.com/john30/ebusd/blob/master/contrib/scripts/readallvaillantregisters.sh do it.

second: if you want ebusctl nevertheless, you can simply grab the package from the urls mentioned in https://github.com/john30/ebusd-debian/ and extract the files using dpkg -x

The users of ebusd are not all nerds and developers.
I think netcat is way too nerdy for the purpose.

And the reference to a no longer existing Reository (ebusd-debian) is far from helpful.
(Although it would have been helpful to communicate the attitude and the reasons for canceling the debian-repository in advance)

In addition, it would be nice if you didn't learn in a subordinate clause and in a completely different context that ebusctl is outdated and is not maintained anymore - especially if you have an open bug report on exactly this topic.

you can use the wrapper shell script now as replacement. just copy it to e.g. /usr/bin and make sure that netcat-openbsd, util-linux and bash packages are installed and you're fine
