Wow, never noticed this before, good catch. It looks like there is no URI encoding for "." since dots in pathnames are considered part of path hierarchy navigation, like where ".." means go up one level and "." means this level. Browsers appear to be performing this navigation or path normalization before the link is followed so you just end up with a link pointing back to the root. Not exactly sure how to deal with this since encodeURIComponent can't help... maybe some kind of custom encoding? Ideas welcome

I was browsing for a middle dot symbol for representing multiplication or other operation, and click on this very dot in ASCII, noticing that nothing pops out. I notice that you directly assign the character as part of the URL /[character]. Maybe manually assign a tag that would not be misinterpreted by URL parser?

It occured to me to try /%2e but the browser decodes and rewrites even this before sending to the application.. maybe there is a security reason? I don't immediately understand why it is so aggressive

A reminder: My browser actually knows I was trying /%2E and autofill with /%2E after I tried to click the dot symbol a few times, even though /%2E never actually show up in the address bar.

And BWT, it is actually very good to put that Unicode character directly as the part of address, because I was directed to your webpage by directly putting a special character ༺ in Google and Google give me your webpage in the address https://unicodes.jessetane.com/%E0%BC%BA which in my browser looks like /༺.
