Hi Jan,
Jan here too, newbie in proxmox and Linux. Thank you very much for your promising tool. I can pass my Epson Workforce DS-310 to my VM and see it there via lsusb and also scanimage. But when I try to build es2button via make, I get the following error:

error: failed to download `bit-set v0.2.0`

  unable to get packages from source

Am I doing something wrong, or is possibly something out of date here?

Hey Jan,

yeah, I'm getting the same error. bit-set seems to be a dependency in from libusb.

dcuddeback/libusb-rs#50

But it seems libusb was abandoned and nobody is maintaining it anymore. I'll see if there is a replacement that we could use here.

Created a change to use rusb. However, I can't test it properly right now as I'm not near my scanner :)

thanks for the quick response and fix, now I was able to build and install. The button press is recognized and logged, but it seems, I have a problem with the device name(?) now:

(The output comes from the example-epsonscan2.sh.) Probably it's no longer the bit-set-problem, but maybe you can help me one more step?

Update: Tests on manual scanning with epsonscan2 taught me, that the device name including bus and dev (like in your var ES2_DEV) don't work for me. I created an additional var named ES2_DEV_NAME only with the self.device.identifier.name and used it in the example script (epsonscan2 -s "${ES2_DEV_NAME}" $(dirname $0)/a4_preset.SF2) - now it works. Thank you very much!
