BG Calibration via SMS

Is it possible to send this data as an sms, and let xDrip+ pick it up (or something like his)?

I would like to keep one xdrip app unit permanently located at my house.

For BG calibration, this means i need to be at home now. If it was possible to calibrate in some other way, that would be amazing. Then anyone can upload the BG calbrations (kindergarden, sleepovers, etc) without needing a specific phone, app or similar; Parakeet running would be enough

There are a couple of ways you can do this.

The easiest is to set up a handset as an xDrip+ Follower and enable Be master for followers on your master handset. Then you can calibrate on either handset (follower or master) - You can have as many follower handsets as you like.

If you really want to calibrate via SMS then I would suggest using Tasker. xDrip+ supports remote calibration as a Tasker plugin feature. It would be fairly easy to initiate a calibration based on an incoming text message. I already do this with pushover messages for fully automated calibration via a raspberry pi.

If you want to go this route let me know and I can publish a tasker script which would probably do what you need.

Wasn't even aware of the xdrip sync! Does the sync master need to have 'external ip', and added as receiver for all followers? What port does it use? Using it locally now, and the BG calibration worked as you said:)

This will be good enough for me, as I use android myself, and I can update BG calibrations done by others (it's my 3yr old son who has t1d)

Tasker script would be amazing, but only if you have the time:) Should be noted my 'master' doesn't have a sim-card..

Quick question: is it possible to configure parakeet receiver app engine without the actual parakeet? I.e. directly on the website? I want to use this URL instead of ip's, but I wont have the parakeet ready untill a few weeks. Didn't find this explained anywhere.

I am not sure how to answer your question about configuring the parakeet app engine receiver. You can install it without a parakeet as per the normal instructions. It doesn't really need to be configured. It is the parakeet and xdrip+ which are configured to speak to the app-engine url.

If you are already using usb based wixels (eg with Raspberry Pi) then you can cause this data to be uploaded to the app-engine instance and then use that url instead of local ip's. To do that you change use the .cfg file and put in the parakeet receiver URL and passcode:

I thought these things needed to be set in some way. I guess I should have tested more first! Like, I couldn't seem to remember where to set a passcode (except sms option), but I guess I just need to use the same passcode for accessing & uploading same data. Seems obvious now :P

Question.... I have set up a pushover notification to my Uploader phone, so that I receive notifications every time I enter a Blood Sugar Calibration on my Pebble Watch. So:

Test Blood on Meter --> Launch Careportal App on Pebble --> Enter Blood Sugar Reading --> Notification Sent to Uploader Phone via Pushover

Is there a way to use the blood sugar notification received on the uploader phone, using Tasker, to calibrate xDrip+?

Hy! Recently implemented Parakeet and first I want to say big thank you to developers. Excellent work!
Regarding this issue - remote calibration using one master and other followers that send calibration to the master over Internet using unique key: how this exactly works, or better to say what online service/server is in the middle of that communication process between follower and master? I want to setup my firewall to allow this outbound specific connection but I am not sure what exactly I need to allow?
