In this survey, 50% of users do not want the removal. This means that there are users who find it useful to build profiles for Firefox in this way. I confess that I am in that 50% who voted for the removal... but I cannot ignore individuals and their needs. After all, many features of "AM" were introduced at the request of individuals, and where there were conflicts I always tried to agree with the parties. This is not the case. I will keep this feature, given the usefulness that those few have found in it. I would like, however, to hear from those who voted "NO" what you like about this feature and how it has improved your workflow. |

According to this https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2025/03/firefox-nightly-supports-web-apps-taskbar-tabs Firefox is about to reintroduce support for Web Apps, or PWAs if you prefer. This is a feature that was used in the past and then removed, and currently only Chromium-based browsers and the Firefox Android client are able to create them.
For my part, since "AM" exists, I have always introduced this support based on the method used by Linux Mint's Webapp-manager or Peppermint's ICE: creating custom profiles for Firefox, complete with icon and preconfigured settings for that purpose. Not exactly the same result, but it's a support that I cared a lot about (before switching to containers).
In the database there are 9 ready, those with the name starting with
ffwa-, and others can be created via the-toption.As far as I could, I could only get this to work with Firefox, and not forks. But a future native Firefox implementation will probably be available in forks, by default. This would seem to make the support in "AM" useless.
I ask you...
