Rectangular Grid -- multiple issues

What went wrong?

• data_vars is broken -- raises an error. -- it wasn't tested at all.

• it doesn't work if the latitude (or longitude) is decreaseing, rather than increasing (see the NOAA GFS met model)

These are being address in branch:

regular_grid_tests

and mostly done.

Thanks for reporting this. I can take a look at the data_vars error and the handling of decreasing latitude/longitude. I’ll try to reproduce this locally on Python 3.11 and check the regular_grid_tests branch as well. I’ll update here once I have more details or a proposed fix.
