Quest #10 - Solving UK Graduate Unemployment #41

Description

@innov8tor3

Given the growing issue here in the UK, we can help unemployed UK graduates - 14% at the time of writing - by providing them with "gamified training" that can be offered through UK Job Centres.

This will need to focus in two areas.

Side Hustle Quests & Support
First will be entrepreneur training, in the way this repo will support, at the end point through Web pages and AI prompts. This needs to have a sufficiently impressive set of Web pages showing training modules and mapping progression. Onchain storage of training results can be very helpful, and problems to be solved can range from minor to major. This will likely not be for everyone attending a UK Job Centre, but can fit those who appear to be difficult to "pigeon hole". Pigeon Hole could be the name of the training programme.

Second will need to be smart AI based digital job support. This will not be a training module, but rather a series of attaching support pages to help a trainee find interim work until their side hustle takes off. Rather than a separate entity, it will be more of a USP attaching to pigeon hole, and the Job Centre may find this is product differentiator.

Digital Job Support
Digital Job Support is likely to fall into 4 main areas:

  1. Strategy & Market Research
  2. Tech Build roles
  3. Marketing & Outreach functions
  4. Payment, Incentive & Reward systems

2 is likely to be lower impact, lower incidence, with the main predicted impact and workload being in the other 3 categories, probably more in 3 & 4.

We may also be able to co-develop a separate platform for Naiif Ali, of NaliHub, who really wants to help provide job search support for UK graduates, and could also use some assistance in getting to that point. He has great community skills, so therefore could fit the Sergeant RoboSnail profile. He would need to use the structure defined above, and AI support in the form of discussion with The Gordian Mage, Sparky the Lab Technician, and his very own RoboSnail bot.

Solution Urgency
Research has now been done in Grok showing this is a growing problem, more than creeping as well, in both the UK & the US, with growing rates of graduate under- and unemployment. The intention is to show folks broadly, but especially graduates who know how to learn, that there are career paths through self employment when conventional employment is less possible.

Further research among young people reveals Gen Z is beginning to believe that investing in self growth does not lead to a viable career, and that self employment is too hard to take on. This is a huge collective failure, and feeding in to the growing Mental Health crisis in Gen Z. A viable and ideally simple gaming approach leading to clear results and growing and supporting self belief likely becomes even more important.

Willing Collaborators
I may approach Psaul Osugun in Build Stop, who is already a researcher, to see if he agrees with this problem and maybe he might get involved in finding a solution. Jack from STUK is also open to discussion and possible solutions. It will help enormously to have working examples to show folk, and Max Gershfield is also on board with wanting to find a solution. Ems from Moonboi could also make a contribution, I'm sure, as well as Ameer from Libi Engine.

This issue is now live.
