Hardware and software checks?

Hi,

I've been able to compile and upload the code to CoopCommand and CoopCam. When I plug in power (12V) the LCD lits up for 2 seconds and then goes black. Is there a way to test the CoopCommand and CoopCam board separately. I've hooked up TX and RX to look at the SerialMonitor but nothing to see there.

Are there some hardware checks that I can do? Software checks after that? Would appreciate your help, once again. Thanks!!

Hey Roland! I am so sorry for the delay, somehow I completely missed your initial request! Is there a chance you can upload some high-resolution images so I can take a peak? What are you using as a 12v supply? I would check to make sure that you have 5v at the 5v pin for the LCD to make sure it is getting the proper voltage. The fact that it lights up and then blanks out seems odd and almost like the power supply is tripping due to overcurrent for some reason. Sorry again for not responding sooner! Corey

Hi Corey!

No worries. I'll upload some photos tomorrow. I've connected a (led) power supply of 12V 80W. The display only flashes and then the motor starts turning, switching direction every couple of seconds. It seems that the code is stuck in some loop.

I also noticed earlier that the ESPCam came online on my Wifi, but now it does not appear anymore.

Hey @RolandWijnen, I had a chance to look through your images.
There are a couple questionable solder joints and places where I feel a short could have been introduced.

Do you have access to a multimeter? It would be nice to check if you have 5v on all the pins that expect them and GND continuity at all the GNDs

The odd behavior makes me think the system is constantly rebooting, or is getting pins pulled high or low by a solder short somewhere.

Hey @RolandWijnen, one other thought.

Have you seen what it is outputting in the serial monitor during this? If you fire up the Arduino IDE and have your programmer connected while the strange behavior is happening (only hook up RX, TX and GND if you are feeding it 12v power at the same time). That might also give us some hints as to what is going on.

I don't see anything on the serial monitor of the mainboard. I've also checked the serial monitor of the ESPcam. This is the output. It indeed is rebooting all the time. There is also something wrong with camera config. I'll further investigate.
