Dr. David Hurd, professor of Astronomy and Meteorology at the Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, is responsible for managing the design and production of tactile material for Haptically Speaking.
Here is a little bit of information about Dr. Hurd:

<li>- He has twin sons with cerebral palsy, which motivates his work for students with special needs.</li>
<li>- Dr. Hurd works with Dr. Cass Runyon from the <a href="http://lhsm.cofc.edu/sservi/" target="_blank" title="A link the 'Solar System Exploration Virtual Institute' at College of Charleston which creates tactile and other media for the blind and visually impaired.">College of Charleston</a> and a team of others to produce the resources on this site.</li>
<li>- In addition to being a professor Edinboro University, he also serves as the Planetarium Director at the <a href="https://www.edinboro.edu/directory/offices-services/planetarium/index.html" target="_blank" title="A link to Edinboro University's website, where Dr. Hurd teaches and makes tactiles.">Edinboro University of Pennsylvania's Planetarium</a></li>
