Python 2.7 & 2.6 support

I believe we should at least support 2.7 and 2.6, thoughts?

Do the libs you've used support those versions of python?

I believe so but the current code base would break for 2.6 so setup tools (when put in place) would have to convert the code base from 3 to 2.6 when being installed.
