Line ending management (CR, LF, CRLF)

I can neither add a new line with enter nor can I actually successfully save and exit a file because I need to press enter to confirm the file name.

This used to work, so this is a regression.

I think your Enter key is set to send LF instead of CR. Nano binds Justify to Ctrl+J, and Ctrl+J is the LF character, so when your Enter sends LF, nano reads it as "Justify" and merges your lines instead of adding a new one. That also explains why you can't confirm the filename to save.

Quick test: open a file and press Ctrl+M instead of Enter. If that inserts a proper new line, that confirms it: your Enter is sending LF.

I'm going to add a toggle in settings to switch what Enter sends (CR vs LF). In the meantime, you may also be able to change this in your keyboard/IME settings, though not all keyboards expose that option, so the in-app toggle will be the reliable fix once it ships.

Also to have more space on your screen i recommend using fullscreen mode and making your keyboard setup more minimal :)
