No releases to Bazel Central Registry?

It's been 3 months since the last release to BCR.

1.79.0 release PR was created but never merged.

What is the ETA on releasing 1.80.0 to BCR?

Hey @kberezin-nshl, thanks for pointing this out. Looks like we did not publish the deployments of v1.79.0 from https://central.sonatype.com/publishing/deployments. This is the reason why we are seeing CI failures (target not found error within a Maven repository) here bazelbuild/bazel-central-registry#7490

@ejona86, will it be fine if we publish them now? Or is it too late?

We have never done a release to BCR. That has only ever been done by the wider community.

@ejona86 Are you open to consider taking over the ownership of grpc-java in BCR? It's a quite popular dependency that many projects depend on, including Bazel itself. The whole process can also be automated by https://github.com/bazel-contrib/publish-to-bcr
