MacBook (macOS 26.1) no longer discoverable by Android 16 (v.2.2.0)

Description

The app only worked once before the recent operating system updates on both my MacBook and Android device.

I have tried troubleshooting all the standard network settings (VPN, Private DNS, Firewall) and have confirmed they are all disabled. The issue persists across different Wi-Fi networks.

Expected Behavior

The MacBook's device name should appear as an available target in the Android Quick Share menu.

Actual Behavior

The Android device scans but the MacBook device name never appears. The scan times out or only shows other nearby Android devices.

Troubleshooting Steps Performed

• Restarted the MacBook.
• Restarted the Android device.
• Toggled Private DNS, VPN, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth off and on for both devices (restarting after each change).
• Uninstalled and reinstalled NearDrop (v2.2.0) using Homebrew.
• Confirmed NearDrop is active in the macOS menu bar.
• Tested on a different Wi-Fi network

But the same Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S24U) works fine with Ventura 13.7.8

Could it be fixed?

I feel like I should just start closing issues about devices not seeing each other. Everything still works for me just fine, after all. These aren't actionable as far as I'm concerned.

Here I have:

1. Samsung Galaxy S24U (android 16, oneUI 8.0)
2. two laptops:
   A — Macbook Pro 2017 Intel with Ventura 13.7.8
   B — Macbook Pro 2025 M5 with Tahoe 26.2
   in front of me now.

1 + 2A works perfectly

1 + 2B doesn't work at all

Could you please advise whether you need any additional information?

No matter how much information about your setup you give me I have no idea how to fix this. I don't know how to even approach something like this. You can try to debug it yourself somehow and submit a PR if you figure out the problem, I suppose.
