I'd like this as well so I could use my z.ai coding plan subscription api token which works with openai compatible API endpoints.

I need this feature as well. Being able to override the base URL would be very useful for working with alternative API endpoints.

It would be great if Copilot CLI could support llama.cpp as a backend.
Since llama.cpp exposes an OpenAI‑compatible API, being able to set a custom base URL would make it possible to use local GGUF models seamlessly while keeping the same Copilot CLI workflow.

This is available as of v1.0.12. You can use COPILOT_PROVIDER_BASE_URL with COPILOT_MODEL to point the CLI at an OpenAI-compatible endpoint (such as Ollama, vLLM, or llama.cpp). The CLI also supports Azure and Anthropic through the documented provider configuration options. No GitHub authentication is required when using a custom provider. Run copilot help providers for full documentation and examples. If you believe this still isn't resolved, please feel free to reopen the issue.
