Can't see colors assigned to slots when starting a print

On this screen, there's no way to tell which color is actually loaded in each slot. When trying out Bambufy for the first time, I ended up making a mistake of selecting colors the wrong way around due to this.

Suggestion: There's no point showing the model color twice. Keep "C2:PLA" "C3:PLA" as they are, and change "P1" "P2" etc to show the color loaded in that slot. Ideally the material too.

I don't know exactly how this works, but is it possible to perhaps have headers "1" "2" "3" "4" above the slots, and replace "P1" "P2" etc with the material?

Like this (if IFS slot #1 has blue filament and IFS slot #2 has green):

Perhaps on further thought, the color and material only need to be shown in a header - but I'm not sure exactly what is and isn't possible.

If you put blue on the white, it is your responsibility. Bambufy does not know and will not ask the user what colors are loaded.

I used blue and green as the actual filaments in the example, to more clearly illustrate the difference between "colors selected in the slicer" (red, white) vs "colors loaded in the printer" (blue, green, PETG white).

But the point here is: This popup should in some way show you which color you're actually selecting, just like the normal zMod screen or the native Flashforge screen do.

Bambufy will not ask the user what colors are loaded. Bambufy has been deliberately programmed this way, as I believe that asking the user to specify which colors are loaded is imprecise, complex, and unnecessary.

You misunderstand because you keep thinking that the actual colors you have loaded will appear in that window at some point, but knowing that they won't, there is no misunderstanding.

Yes, this would be user error if someone failed to account for this. I primarily just want to be able to see in this popup: which channel actually has (for example) blue in it?

Though this raises another question: If Bambufy is unaware of what materials is loaded, how does it determine what temperature to use when purging the old material? And how does it know to slow down the IFS when handling TPU (or does it not know to do this)?

That is also baked into the gcode; that's how Orca and Bambu Studio work, and multicolor in Bambulab. The magic is in the filament change gcode.

According to you, you will have to go at least once to check the printer to load the filaments and tell it what colors they are.

My vision: When you press print, you simply go and load the filaments if they are not already loaded, assign them, and finally print. I am not going to make the user enter the colors when they are already physically visible.

The person is telling you correctly that when the printer and the PC are generally in different rooms / floors, it is very inconvenient... the colors may not change in the printer, but in 3mf files, the colors are often set by the author, they may match in color but not match in location. And when the question arises before printing - which rod in the file corresponds to the rod on the printer, you sit and remember where your color is... It's INCONVENIENT... for this purpose, the colors on the printer are specifically indicated - where is which coil... and the fashion has long been done to make it clear the color of the indicated coil, which we originally indicated when we loaded the filament...We need clarity so that P1,P2,P3,P4 are decorated in the color specified in the printer for these ports. If you follow your logic - like see for yourself what you're doing there and remember, insert after the fact - then you can generally remove the port selection before printing and do remapping every time in the slicer.

Any port can have any color, the order of colors in the slicer is irrelevant, as is the physical order in the printer. The colors in the slicer are displayed on the screen, and there is nothing to prevent you from using color 1 in the slicer with port 4

I can think of a couple of reasons to check the printer before printing. One is the condition of the bed (it should be clean), and another is to be present during the first layer. That's the perfect time to assign colors with everything in view using the screen.

I'll explain it again, maybe it will be clearer this way.In the printer, 1 is white, 2 is black, 3 is red, 4 is blue.
We open the model in the slicer, there is a different order, for example, 1 is blue, 2 is red, 3 is black, 4 is white... and I HAVE TO KEEP IN MIND the order in which I have the colors on the printer... The printer is on another floor, in another room, and if there are several printers? and are these colors inserted differently in each one? Should I photograph them or train my memory?

For example, I remove ready-made models from the printer, prepare it for printing. Then I leave this room/building/floor, etc... I'm looking for a model to print, I find the right one, I want to print it... and I don't remember in what order the colors are there, of course, you can open the COLOR macro and see, but it's much more convenient to see it when you start printing, which port is which color/type, as it was implemented in the latest versions of zmod (so it's really necessary for users, not developers out of boredom?) :)
