Returning only a partial block

With the rising popularity of htmx, partial html responses are seeing a revival.

In jinja or rather pongo2 you {% extends "filename" %} where those blocks are defined and returns the whole rendered thing.
I hope it's understood what I mean.

Instead of this behavior, I'd like to render only a certain {% block name %}.

Is it possible to say "don't use extend and render only the block named name"?

This is possible with the standard template engine of Go.

HTMX and Go is an awesome combo, this feature you are asking for is called template fragments.

pongo2 / Django have blocks already so we only need the ability to render them separately and ignore the rest of the file ( like extends declarations)
Here is an extension that implements it for Django, there are other ones cited in the previous template fragments link.

From the docs:

In test1.html:

In test2.html:

{% extends 'test1.html' %}
{% block block1 %}block1 from test2{% endblock %}

And from the Python shell:
