Hi gorgeous! I'm diving into a pywal integration with rmpc and I'm on the hunt for a way to change the colors for just the terminal where the command is running. Is that even possible? Because I think I might have just stumbled upon a thousand-upvote idea!

Edit: How about we consider a way to include or exclude terminals based on the app-id? Just a thought!

Sorry, forgot about this 😅, between going in and out of employment every other week the last couple months have been something... anyway will try to have this for the next release of pywal which i'd love to say will be for christmass buuuuuut i'd rather not overpromise with something that i got no idea how long will take even tho on the surface it doesn't seem too complicated

Back on topic, this should in theory require just to check if rmpc is running, if so on which terminal, then send the color change sequences only to said terminal.

Maybe have an env var to opt in to said behaviour or make the feature more general, say an env var that may contain a comma separated list of programs, if the env var is not empty the list is loaded to an array, the array is iterated checking if said program is running AND has an attached terminal, if so the terminal's dev/pty is appended to another array, the array elements get deduplicated (to prevent sending sequences twice to the same terminal) and finally the sequences are sent only to the terminals in the list, if such env var is unset OR if none of the programs from the list is running then the sequences would be sent to every running terminal as usual.

And about the env‑var—I’m not against it at all, but I was actually thinking more along the lines of a target flag and an exclude flag since:

1. This will probably end up in a script, so typing a flag each time isn’t a hassle.
2. We need to skip certain programs when we run pywal system‑wide, and an --exclude flag paired with --out-dir would cleanly isolate the program we want.

We could support both the flags and the env‑var, but that might be a bit of an over‑kill.

Also, on a side note, do you know what’s up with the AUR package? It hasn’t been updated in a while, I don't have much experience but I’d be happy to help maintain it if the current maintainer has stepped down.
